The playhouse is decorated very well with African themed elements. I purchased tickets at the box office the same evening. Upon arrival outside, we were able to view the portraits of famous cast members including: Rafiki, Nala, and Simba. We knew we were there, when we saw the big bright yellow The Lion King sign and sprinkling bright lights. This play is held at the Minskoff Theatre and appears to have shows daily and weekly. We viewed this black centric play on Friday, Augat The Minskoff Theatre. “The Lion King” is definitely one of them. People know in advance that the show is going to be a breath-taking sight! Tony Award-winning musicals are famous for their tough acts to follow. Tickets for “The Lion King” on US tour are sold out right away when a new block goes on sale. The Lion King's popularity and success also helped solidify The Walt Disney Company as a major player in the theatre world.The favorite musical of the late 90s comes back to the big scene – Disney announces the USA tour of The Lion King. Fans are still addicted to the lush soundtrack and some of the original songs from the musical have become karaoke faves. The Lion King has been performed in thirteen different countries and viewed by 80 million people across the globe. It’s now been twenty-three years since the musical’s premiere, and the show is still beloved and going strong.

The Lion King walked away with the Tony for Best Musical, as well as six others. Fans and critics were spellbound by the intricate puppetry and gorgeous music.
